"The Wrong Buttons" is the seventeenth chapter of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

Synopsis[]

Axel advises Roxas to give Xion space, believing Roxas may have pushed the wrong button. He explains that while both guys and girls have "buttons", girls are more complicated and that once Roxas figures out which button is connected to what, he'll reach true maturity.

Before his shower, Roxas flicks the lights of the shower room when Demyx comes out of the shower, wondering who's messing with them. Roxas apologizes and asks Demyx if he ever pushed any girl's buttons. Though he misunderstands first, Demyx realizes that Roxas is talking about making them upset and explains he believes Larxene was covered in wrong buttons, citing her as an example of girls getting scary when they're mad. Afterward, Roxas passes by Xion's room and notices the light is on. He wonders if he should get in and talk to her, but the light turns off before he can decide.

The next day, Axel finds Roxas sleep-deprived in the Grey Area as he's been up thinking about buttons all night. He tells Axel he came to the realization that he never should have talked to her if he knew he was gonna press any buttons. Axel says Roxas is over-thinking and talking like a human because he believes he'll be hurt. Roxas, however, claims he's afraid of hurting Xion and asks Axel if he could apologize with a note saying, "I'm sorry I pushed your buttons." A corridor of darkness suddenly opens and Dusks emerge with an unconscious Xion.
