"The Wizard's House" is the sixteenth chapter of Kingdom Hearts. It was first collected in Kingdom Hearts Volume 2 by Tokyopop and republished in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix Volume 1 by Yen Press.

Synopsis Edit

Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy travel to the Third District and come to a stop in front of a mysterious door. The Keyblade opens the door, revealing the Mystical House behind it. The trio enter the house and call out to the owner, but notice that no one's there. Sora hears a voice and turns to see Kairi comparing the house to the Secret Place at Destiny Islands. He is left dumbstruck and begins to reach out to her, but is distracted by the arrival of the house's owner, Merlin. He notes that the three had arrived sooner than expected and compliments Cid's work on repairing the book, but Sora is distracted thinking about what he saw.

The three sit down with Merlin, who introduces himself as a sorcerer and informs them that the King requested he train them in magic. Donald asks about the King's whereabouts, but Merlin simply replies that he's off trying to restore balance to the worlds. He tells them of the King's request to train Sora in magic and notes that the boy is still using the Keyblade instinctively instead of controlling its power. He invites them to visit him anytime they need advice and requests that they brink back missing pages from the book they delivered, claiming that a book has a world of its own.

As the trio return to the Third District, Sora mentions that they have more things to find and Donald suggests taking things one step at a time. A Soldier appears behind Sora and jumps on his back, but before any of them can react, an unseen figure slices the Heartless in half and teasingly tells Sora to wake up, shocking him.
