"Kangaroo Court" is the tenth chapter of Kingdom Hearts. It was first collected in Kingdom Hearts Volume 1 by Tokyopop and republished in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix Volume 1 by Yen Press.

Synopsis Edit

Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy chase after the White Rabbit, who mentions that he's late for something important and will surely lose his head. They enter the Bizarre Room where Sora notices that the White Rabbit has shrunk in size and sees him exiting through a door. Sora wonders how the rabbit could have gotten so small, but the Doorknob at the door claims that Sora is too big. He tells him to drink a medicine and pass through quickly as he's tired. Donald and Goofy are in awe of the talking doorknob while Sora finds the medicine. After taking it, they shrink in size. Sora happily notes that the outside world is mysterious while Donald claims that it may be too mysterious. As they attempt to pass through the door, Sora notices that the Doorknob has fallen asleep. Goofy finds a hole in the wall and the three pass through it.

They emerge in a courtyard where a trial has just begun. The White Rabbit finishes playing a fanfare and announces that the court is now in session. On her throne, the Queen of Hearts fans herself and claims that the defendant is guilty because she says so. The defendant, a young girl, notes that it's completely unfair and claims to have done nothing wrong. She says that the Queen may be royalty, but that it doesn't give her the right to be so mean. Her outburst angers the Queen, who views it as defiance and deems her guilty for attempting to steal her heart.

Sora, realizing the true culprit, tells Donald and Goofy that they have to help her, but they claim that if they do, then they'll be meddling with the world order. The Queen orders that the girl be beheaded. As the Card Soldiers attempt to take her away, Sora orders them to stop.
