Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy are trying to navigate their way through Hollow Bastion, but get lost. They reach a room where a black-hooded man stands in the middle. Donald states how the figure makes him uneasy while Goofy wonders if the figure is Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. The figure states that the name brings back memories and attacks Sora with a bolt of electricity but the wielder narrowly deflects the attack. The man states Sora cannot yet understand and how he looks like him. He states they will meet again and starts to vanish. Sora demands to know who he is but the figure says he is merely an empty shell and disappears.
Sometime later, another figure, with a similar black coat and armed with two Keyblades, defeats several Heartless. He notices a blindfolded Riku and demands to know Sora's location.
Beast is not with Sora, Donald, and Goofy when they encounter Xemnas.

The chapter does not state where it chronologically takes place. However, as Kairi is not with the trio, the chapter could take place as the trio are returning to their Gummi Ship near the end of "I Won't Say Goodbye". The second half, however, takes place during "The Dream of a Nobody".
